Vzhledem k tomu, že se jedná o práci ,,na cestách", ať už na mezinárodních či vnitrostátních spojích, je zde velká kumulace cizinců, kteří potřebují poradit. Aktivní využití cizího jazyku, v zákaznickém servisu na palubě vlaku, je denní rutinou. U strojvedoucích je znalost cizího jazyku méně důležitou součástí jejich výkonu práce, ale velkou výhodou, pokud se chtějí domluvit například s rakouskými kolegy na hranicích.
Jelikož jsou občas náročné směny, kde samozřejmě mladí lidé maji menší problém to zvládnout.
