Finance and Administration Director - CEE Bankwatch Network z. s.

CEE Bankwatch Network campaigns to prevent environmentally and socially harmful impacts of international development finance, and to promote alternative solutions and public participation. It unites 17 member groups in 14 countries in Central and Eastern Europe and the Caucasus. Our headquarters are located in Prague, Czech Republic, but our staff is based in offices across the region. We work with partner organisations ranging from Africa to Central Asia, monitoring public finance projects and promoting environmentally, socially and economically sustainable alternatives. CEE Bankwatch Network is looking for Finance and Administration Director to support its work in Central and Eastern Europe and beyond. The Finance and Administration Director’s role is to ensure that Bankwatch’s financial and administrative management is effective, fulfills the organisation’s legal and statutory accountability requirements, and meets Bankwatch’s ethical standards, while supporting its mission and values.

🔑 Key responsibilities:

  • Leading, coordinating, and supervising the Bankwatch Finance and Administration team (8 people)
  • Ensuring effective communication on financial management matters between finance and other stakeholders, including the Board, network member organisations, partner organisations, and other Bankwatch teams
  • Supervising and coordinating Bankwatch’s organisational budgets (annual budget approx. €4 million), allocations to teams, regular cash flow analysis, projections, and actuals
  • Overseeing financial planning and processes, managing risk, and implementing and updating policies and procedures in conjunction with other Bankwatch stakeholders
  • Arranging and overseeing Bankwatch’s statutory and other audits, and working with auditors in conjunction with the Finance Team
  • Being involved in communication with donors and external financial authorities
  • Ensuring compliance with local and international legal requirements, donor requirements, and ethical guidelines
  • Serving as a member of the Management Team to integrate programmatic and financial divisions and provide financial input to the overall management of the network

Requirements

  • University degree in Finance, Management, or another relevant area
  • At least 5 years of financial management experience, with a proven record of managing organisational budgets in a larger organisation
  • Proven experience in team management
  • Excellent English communication skills
  • In-depth knowledge of financial practices and broad knowledge of accounting principles
  • Strong ethics and reliability
  • High level of computer literacy, particularly Excel
  • Strong planning and analytical skills
