STRATEGIC PURCHASING LEAD - Metals Commodity

Objective:

Strategic Purchasing Lead – Metals Commodity is responsible for driving the procurement strategy, sourcing, and supplier management for metal materials and components within the organization. This role leads a team of three purchasing professionals and works closely with internal stakeholders and external suppliers to bring competitive advantage through delivery, quality, cost, and innovation for all metals-related purchasing activities.

Summary of duties:

  • Develop and implement the sourcing strategy for the metal’s commodity in alignment with the Purchasing strategy defined at Safran Cabin level
  • Manages other members of the strategic purchasing team
  • Manages Sourcing activities (RFQ’s, sourcing awards) for running programs
  • Supports IPT teams with sourcing activities for Development teams, when requested
  • Selects suppliers in accordance with the Purchasing strategy defined at Safran Cabin level and based on Total Cost of Ownership
  • Negotiates purchase prices with suppliers
  • Determine the item settings (lead time, safety time, safety stock/re-order point, conversion factors, order qty…)
  • Negotiates contracts, including purchase prices, in agreement with Cabin Purchasing
  • Manages forecasts and orders per the requisitions from the ERP systems
  • Gets approval on POs from site, Division or Cabin, consistent with the applicable delegation thresholds
  • Reports internally and communicates to suppliers their delivery performances (Scorecard) and initiates supplier improvement when needed, in collaboration with the Cabin Supplier Development teams
  • Manages inventory policy and purchased stock level to support operations and financial targets on working capital
  • Coordinates and executes Risk management plans
  • Serves as point of escalation on supplier issues escalated by Purchasers. He/she may rely on Cabin Supply Chain & Purchasing organization for further escalation
  • Willing to travel to suppliers (local and foreign) or other Galleys sites when requested.

Our requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Engineering, Business, or a related field; master’s degree is an advantage
  • Proven experience in Purchasing/Procurement (3+ years) - focus on metas or raw materials is an advantage
  • 2+ years experience in managing a team of people
  • Proficiency with procurement and ERP systems (e.g., SAP); advanced Excel and reporting skills
  • Able to absorb and recall large quantities of information quickly
  • Understanding the material flow through the production company
  • Excellent English language skills
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills
  • Research and analytical skills
  • MS office skills
  • Ability to set up priorities
  • Pro-active person continiously trying to improve processes
  • Willing to travel to suppliers (local and foreign) or other Safran Cabin sites when requested
